Complete dentures are made to replace all of a person’s teeth, and are custom designed to resemble an individual’s natural teeth as closely as possible. Complete dentures are removable and require regular cleaning and may need adjustments in order to optimize their fit. 

Partial dentures are intended to replace missing teeth when some natural teeth remain. A removable partial denture is a device used when one or more natural teeth still remain in the upper or lower jaw. They usually consist of replacement teeth attached go a gum-colored plastic base which is held in place in the mouth. A fixed partial denture acts the same as a removable denture, but it is cemented into place using adjacent teeth for support.

The teeth adjacent to the missing tooth or teeth are crowned and used as anchors to support the replaced tooth or teeth in the middle. This can be affordable option, however in some situations teeth that are perfectly healthy have to be restored in order to provide the anchors.
